Dog Mauls Man To Death In Southwest Dade

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4 News) ― For the second time in a month, police in South Florida have had to investigate a fatal dog mauling, with the most recent attack being a man who was mauled by a boxer in Miami-Dade.

Monday, 56-year-old Pablo Rudolfo Fleites was found dead, in the pen of a 5-year-old male boxer. The dog had the man's blood all over its body when police found the victim dead at night. Miami-Dade County animal services euthanized the dog and was awaiting results on a rabies test.

The incident happened at 20280 SW 190th Street, in Southwest Miami-Dade, and police are trying to find out what the victim was doing in the pen. He lived on a shed on the property which is a three-acre farm.

A second dog, a 6-month-old female boxer, also was in the pen but was not believed to have been involved in the attack, police said. Officers did not take the puppy away.

Police are investigating what may have provoked the attack, as boxers are not known to be an aggressive breed.

A 120lb. Presa Canario killed its owner in Coral Springs earlier this month as she was trying to bathe it. Police do not know what provoked that attack, but had to fatally shoot the dog as it was acting aggressively when they approached that scene.
