The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a diesel spill in the Miami River Wednesday evening.
Officials say the Titan Express was reportedly fueling at the pier when the diesel spilled into the water and on the deck of the ship. An anonymous caller told the Coast Guard what had happened and reported the sheen seen on the water.
Investigators have estimated that 200 gallons of diesel spilled in the water in the area of the Antillean Facility, where the ship is moored.
A Coast Guard prevention team from sector Miami has responded, along with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews and members of the Miami-Dade Hazmat team.
The river was closed north of the Tamiami Canal during the clean-up effort. The spill has since been cleaned up.
