Miami-Dade Police Officers Catch H1N1 Flu Virus
DORAL (CBS4) ―
At least two members of the Miami-Dade Police Department have been infected with the H1N1 flu virus.
According to a CBS4 News source, two officers in the Midwest District in Doral have come down with the illness.
John Rivera, President of the Police Benevolent Association, told CBS4's Gary Nelson that "we are aware of it". In addition, he said, "The officers have undergone treatment. It is our understanding that the station has been sanitized."
Eight people have died of the H1N1 flu virus in Miami-Dade County. The county also reports a total of 854 cases.

Statewide, more than 2,100 people have been sickened since the outbreak emerged. State health officials have recorded 18 deaths total.
Susan Smith, with the Florida Department of Health, says it's important for people to stay home if they're sick, wash their hands frequently and cover their faces when they cough or sneeze.
