Children's Innocence Compromised By Miss Bimbo
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Called "Miss Bimbo", an Internet game for girls ages 9 through 16, is a competition in which each registered player is given a "Bimbo" to take care of. According to the rules, the goal of the game is to make your "Bimbo" the most sought after character, which includes dressing, dating, dieting and even plastic surgery to enhance her appearance. Parents are understandably up in arms over the game.
The game's 23-year-old creator Nicolas Jacquart of France said the game is structured in such a way that it simply mirrors real life in a tongue-in-cheek way, and not a bad influence for young children. "They learn to take care of their bimbos," he said.
Though psychologist Linda Papadopoulos said "The message is very simple: a girl's value is in her looks and if you're not happy with it then fix the way you look and that's the only way you'll be happy."
