Residents Back Home After SWAT Team Call Out

NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) ― Residents of a northeast Miami-Dade neighborhood are back in their homes and the neighborhood is quiet again after a SWAT team and fire rescue closed off the area Thursday night as they searched for a robbery suspect.

Miami-Dade Police responded to the area of Ives Dairy Road and San Simeon Way regarding a report of a robbery with a suspect or suspects on the loose. They searched for the suspect by helicopter and ground.

One resident, who didn't want to be identified, says he heard it was much more than a robbery.

"It appears one of the residents got home and another gentleman with him possibly two ran in with the resident and it looks like there was some sort of hostage situation. It started off with two or three cops and turned into SWAT team and everybody is here now," said the resident.

Police were seen on the streets with guns drawn and residents were kept away from entering their neighborhood. Those that were inside their homes were not allowed outside.

Police said Friday morning there was no robbery, but a woman inside a home was taken into custody on an unrelated incident.
