Police Look For Hit & Run Driver On US1 Near Keys

SOUTH MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) ― The Florida Highway Patrol and Monroe County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a hit and run driver who has left behind a mess on US1 Thursday afternoon.

FHP officials say Edwin Quinones, of Key Largo, was driving his Honda Accord south when a gold colored Nissan SUV or pick-up truck forced it off the road on the 18-mile stretch of US1, heading toward the Florida Keys. Quinones car overturned after he veered off the road and hit a utility pole. It landed in a canal, but he was able to get out of the Accord.

When fire rescue arrived, Quinones collapsed. They transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition.

FHP has notified Monroe County Sherriff's Office to be on look out (BOLO) for the gold/beige Nissan pick up/large SUV. If you have any info please call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers: 305-471-8477 (TIPS).
