Pause Parent Play Betters Children's Media Habits
PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) ―
Summer vacation for kids can turn into a summer nightmare for parents; with so many options for entertainment through the Internet, TV, and DVD's, it's hard to sort out what's appropriate for your child to watch.
The Weston YMCA promoted its "Pause, Parent Play" program because of this. It is designed to give parents tools to help filter what their kids see online and on TV. The effort includes the Motion Picture Association of America, and aims to educate parents and caregivers on media content in time for the summer vacation rush.
Pause Parent Play, urges parents to pause and take a minute to think of how media will affect their children. Then it urges parents to decide what media is appropriate for children to watch. Finally they can play and their family can enjoy this media.
