Controlled Propane Gas Burn Lights Up Plantation

PLANTATION (CBS4) ― There is a controlled propane gas burn taking place Thursday morning in Plantation. Don't be alarmed if you see the flames shooting into the air.

The Nobles Plant Construction Company, located at North New River Canal and Pine Island roads, is burning off the propane gas in a 10,000-gallon tank which they are emptying in order to get rid of it.

The burn off has created a large plume of flame and loud noise much like a jet engine. The column is visible from I-595. Motorists are cautioned against stopping, slowing down, or watching the plume of flame as they drive by, as this may cause a potential traffic hazard.

The controlled burn is expected to last until noon.

Firefighters are on hand to monitor the flames. Please do not call 911 to report the fire.
