Pond Drained Second Time For Boca Murder Clues

Bochicchio Murder MySpace Page
PALM BEACH COUNTY (CBS4) ― In March 2007, Randi Gorenberg, a 52-year-old wife and mother, was killed after leaving the Boca Raton Town Center mall. In December, Nancy Bochicchio, 47, and her daughter were murdered in what police believed was the same killer.

In an exhaustive search for clues, Palm Beach County Sheriff on Wednesday drained a Deerfield Beach pond for the second time to find some evidence in the Gorenberg slaying. Investigators have yet to find several items Gorenberg carried on the day she was killed, including a beige Kooba purse, wallet, cellphone, shopping bags and shoes (black-and-white Puma sneakers).

Police found some items in the pond, but not what they were looking for.

The person who killed a Boca Raton mother and her 7-year old daughter in December may be the work of a serial killer. That was the belief of Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw who was interviewed earlier in February by John Walsh, during a taping of the TV Show "America's Most Wanted".

The show focused the shooting deaths of Randi Gorenberg and Nancy Bochicchio and her daughter, Joey.

In addition, the Boca Raton Police Services Department has established a MySpace Web page dedicated to the Bochicchio investigation which has previously unreleased details about the December 12th murders of Bochiccio and her daughter.

On the site, police state that the suspect(s) "used a variety of material to bind and control Joey and Nancy, including duct tape, plastic ties, handcuffs and goggles. "Their hands, feet, and neck were bound to restrict their movement in the vehicle. When they were discovered, the bindings on Nancy's wrists were broken. There is no direct evidence to suggest who broke the bonds or whether Nancy resisted the suspect(s) in any way."

The Web site also revealed that Nancy Bochicchio made a 911 call to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, but that the phone went dead. Attempts to call back were unsuccessful.

Sheriff Bradshaw said that "all signs are there" linking the murders of the Bochicchios and Randi Gorenberg, as well as an August 7th robbery, to the work of a serial killer preying on women at Town Center mall.

Sheriff Bradshaw said dark goggles or masks were pulled over the heads of Nancy Bochicchio and the August 7th robbery victim. In addition, he said, the Bochicchio's and the August 7th victim were bound using plastic flexcuffs. It's believed the August 7th victim and her 2-year old son weren't hurt because she cooperated with the suspect and did not try to fight back.

Randi Gorenberg was last seen leaving the Town Center Mall walking toward her vehicle in the middle of the afternoon. Police believe she got in her Mercedes GL450 SUV but may have been carjacked. Her SUV was driven to Delray Beach, about five miles away, where she was shot in the head and dumped in the street in broad daylight.

On December 12th, someone killed Nancy Bochicchio and her daughter, who were robbed, bound and then shot to death, and their bodies were found in their SUV in the parking lot of the Town Center Mall during the height of the holiday shopping season.

In between these two crimes was the August 7th incident. A mother and her 2-year old son were held up at gunpoint in the parking lot of the same mall and she was also driving an SUV. They were not shot.

The Boca Raton Police Department and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office created a task force to work on these cases in January.
