Survivor Speaks About Her Attack At Boca Mall

Palm Beach Crimestoppers: 1-800-458-TIPS / Boca Police: 561-338-1352

PALM BEACH COUNTY (CBS4) ― She has come face to face with evil and survived to tell her story. Yet, she still fears for her life, so much that she is keeping her identity secret, going by the name 'Jane Doe.'

"I'm terrified everyday I have nightmares, I'm scared that he is going to break into my house or follow me somewhere and you know possibly kill me or my son," she said.

Her nightmare began after shopping at the Nordstrom at the Town Center Mall last August. She put her son in his car seat, put the stroller in the truck, she looked in the back seat when she heard her son call her. That's when she saw the man next to her son.

"I just stood there and look at him and he said "get in the car" and I was frozen," she said.

With a gun pointing at the two, he made her drive to two banks, the second a Bank of America where she withdrew cash.

"I'm like take whatever you want here's my wallet and my purse," she said.

Her abductor made her sit in the backseat, handcuffing her and covering her eyes with sunglasses as he drove around.

"At that point I started crying again begging him not to do this not to hurt us," she said.

After driving back to the mall, he let her go, but others were not so lucky.

Police believe the man seen in the sketch, is the same man who preyed on 52-year-old Randi Gorenberg after she shopped at the same mall back in March.

And he is believed to be the same man who shot and killed a mother and her daughter. Surveillance cameras captured Nancy Bochicchio and her daughter withdrawing cash from an ATM after they shopped at the mall in December.

Attorney Skip Campbell said those tragedies could have been prevented. In a lawsuit he claims Boca police warned Simon Properties and the Town Center Mall that they needed to beef up security.

"Boca police had asked that they get better security, more lights, roving security and they did nothing," said Campbell.

And while more security and surveillance cameras have been added since the murders, this mother hopes by speaking out, others will be more careful until this predator is caught.

Police need your help to catch the killer if you know anything you are asked to call Palm Beach Crimestoppers at 1-800 458-TIPS.

Tim Earnest, Senior Vice President, Simon Property Group released the the following statement Tuesday afternoon:

Comments made today by the plaintiff's attorney are self-serving and outrageous. We question the motivation of the attorney and his consultant in making these deceptive allegations; the plaintiffs apparently want to try this case in the media. We plan to vigorously defend the lawsuit at the appropriate time, and in the appropriate manner. We will not succumb to the pressure of the plaintiffs or their consultant to present our defense. We have total confidence in the extensive security program at Town Center.
