Road Rangers Cut Fuel Service In Miami-Dade
Broward Road Rangers Will Continue To Offer Fuel
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
The gas tanks are empty for the road rangers in Miami-Dade County, at least when it comes to spare gas.
Road rangers are highway helpers who assist stranded drivers, clear debris from accident scenes and provide gas to drivers who have run out of gas, but that's not the case anymore in Miami-Dade County.
Due to state budget cuts, the road rangers will no longer carry spare fuel on the Palmetto Expressway and portions of I-95 and I-75 in Miami-Dade.
State Road 836, and other Miami-Dade Expressway Authority roads are not affected because toll money, not state funding, pays for the rangers on those roads.
The new state budget, which kicked in Tuesday July 1st, took 10 million dollars away from road rangers and has left them searching for private sponsors to make up the difference.
Road rangers in Broward County will continue to prove fuel service to stranded motorists, at least for now.
