Road Rangers May Be Cut From State Budget
TALLAHASSEE (AP) ―
Florida's drivers might have one more thing to worry about this summer: No more help from Road Rangers.
The state Legislature has cut all 21 million dollars in funding for the roadside service for the next budget year. The Road Rangers are among a long list of state services being scaled back or eliminated as lawmakers try to close a three billion dollar budget shortfall.
State transportation officials say the Road Rangers have been very popular with the public, but the program can't continue without state funding.
