Funnyman Robin Williams To Undergo Heart Surgery

MIAMI (CBS4) ― One day after reportedly being admitted to a South Florida hospital, comedian Robin Williams will undergo heart surgery, according to his publicist Mara Buxbaum.

In a statement released late Thursday, Buxbaum said Williams has postponed the remainder of his critically acclaimed one-man show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement.

"I'm so touched by everyone's support and well wishes," said Williams. "This tour has been amazing fun and I can't wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."

Despite word of the surgery, Buxbaum told CBS4's Sharrie Williams that the 57-year old, Oscar-winning actor is no longer hospitalized. She did not reveal what hospital he'd been admitted to or where he is currently.

CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reported Williams was admitted to a South Florida hospital but his publicist would not confirm his location to CBS4 News. She also denied reports that he was in ICU.

Williams was scheduled to perform at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Williams has been on the sold-out 80-city comedy tour since September 2008. The tour is expected to resume in the fall.

Previously purchased tickets will be honored once the new dates are scheduled or ticketholders can contact their place of purchase for refunds.
