Saks Fifth Avenue Closes Galleria Location

Saks Operates 5 Other South Florida Locations

NEW YORK (CBS4) ― South Florida shoppers have one less Saks Fifth Avenue to shop in. The retailer has announced its closing their Fort Lauderdale location in the Galleria Mall on Sunday.

The company says the nearly 60 employees will either be offered transfer opportunities or severance packages.

Steve Sadove, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saks, noted, "We are very grateful for the dedicated Ft. Lauderdale team, several of whom have been with Saks for many years. We will make every effort to provide needed assistance to our associates during this period."

There are five other South Florida locations that will remain open. They are in Boca Raton, Miami, Bal Harbour, Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens.
