MIA Gets Free Samsung Mobile Charging Stations

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Miami International Airport has found a new way to charge travelers but in a good way. Samsung Mobile has announced its installing 40 free charging stations at MIA.

Each charging station includes four outlets that allow several travelers to recharge their electronic devices simultaneously. The stations are built to charge devices designed for U.S. voltage, 120 volts, and come with a small shelf to hold the gear.

Travelers at MIA can access the 40 charging stations in each of the airport's seven concourses and at pre-security areas throughout the MIA terminal.

Florida Power and Light will provide electricity for charging stations at each airport.

"We are very excited about the decision of Samsung Mobile to brand charging stations at Miami International Airport," said Miguel Southwell, Deputy Director of Business Retention and Development for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. "This decision comes at just the right time. Miami International Airport was looking to enhance its customer service by providing charging stations to passengers at no cost and Samsung Mobile, through JCDecaux Airport, Inc., agreed to be the sponsor. We hope this is the beginning of a long relationship with such a prestigious company as Samsung Mobile."

In addition to MIA, Samsung is also installing charging stations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Washington Dulles International Airport.

Samsung Mobile has already installed free charging stations at some of the nation's largest airports, including 54 stations at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), 51 stations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), 50 stations at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), 22 stations at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), 18 stations at Orlando International Airport (MCO), 12 stations at LaGuardia Airport (LGA), along with eight Samsung Mobile Travel Centers at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
