Swab Your Cheek To Find Your Perfect Match
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
CSI fans know that DNA tests can catch criminals, but one dating service says it can help you catch your perfect mate by your DNA.
Just how Michelle and Bill Karoly fell in love, is a mystery.
"I thought he was a good looking guy, but he wasn't my type," said Michelle.
"She didn't like me, she didn't like me at all," said Bill.
But something made Bill, make a move. "Certainly the looks helped," said Bill.
Friendship turned to courtship and they they married. They have a healthy and happy baby girl.
But let's admit it--dating doesn't always go so smoothly when fix-ups fail, or matchmaking websites crash with creeps.
Eric Holzle says--get scientific.
"Even if your parents or your family introduces you to someone that they think you're compatible with, you still have no way of knowing if you are genetically compatible with that other person," said Holzle.
Holzle is the founder of ScientificMatch.com. Like other matchmaking services, ScientificMatch connects couples by preferences and personality.
"But the thing that really sets us apart is the DNA matching," said Holzle.
All members on ScientificMatch swab their cheeks for a simple DNA test, because several scientific studies have suggested people tend to choose mates who have different immune system genes.
"Nature wants you to breed with people with very different from yourself," explained Holzle.
Biology might have other benefits. Holzle offers other studies suggesting couples with different immunity DNA may have more sex, higher fertility, healthier children and possibly even less infidelity.
"That actually comes out of a study from the University of New Mexico that showed that a woman's chance of cheating in an exclusive relationship are directly proportional to the differences in her DNA from her man," said Holzle.
You can find all the studies on the ScientificMatch website, but even Holzle admits even having great DNA chemistry isn't always the right formula for lasting love.
" Just because you have chemistry with somebody, doesn't mean you'll be their soul mate. In fact, it doesn't even mean you'll like the other person," said Holzle.
So if DNA doesn't work, diamonds might, or just try some old fashioned romance.
ScientificMatch.com has only been in operation for about 2-months, and right now they are limited to the Boston area, and they won't disclose how many matches they have made.
The price is just under $2000, but that's for the DNA test, and a lifetime membership. Click here to visit ScientificMatch.com.
