Black Smoke Fills Sky Over SW Ranches House Fire
3 Firefighters Were Hurt
They Suffered Minor Burns & Heat-Related Injuries
SOUTHWEST RANCHES (CBS4) ―
A South Florida home has gone up in flames in Southwest Ranches in Broward County.
Firefighters were called to a home at 5521 SW 195 Terrace around 11:30 when neighbors reported smoke coming from the roof of the single family home.
Chopper 4 was over the scene moments after the fire broke out and within minutes, the smoke got thicker, blacker and flames broke through the roof.
The fire was raging when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Three firefighters sustained injuries while battling the blaze. Two Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue firefighters were treated for minor burns and heat-related injuries. The third, a Southwest Ranches firefighter was hospitalized for treatment of heat-related injuries.
Two horses and six dogs have all been accounted for and none were hurt.
The State Fire Marshal and Broward Sheriff Fire Marshal Bureau Inspectors will now have to try and determine the cause of the fire.
