Several Spirit Airlines Cancelations At FLL
DANIA BEACH (CBS4) ―
Spirit Airlines is attributing several factors, including pilots not working overtime, for the cancelation of several flights that left passengers stranded at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Monday night.
Airport officials confirmed that eight Spirit flights had been canceled Monday evening, while Spirit officials say it's only five.
Passengers at the airport said they had heard pilots and employees didn't show up to work, causing the lapse in service, however airline officials say several reasons have caused the situation.
They attribute a combination of bad weather, pilots not wanting to work overtime, and 'operation issues' that they say caused a domino effect of canceled flights. They deny a strike is taking place.
Passengers are advised to check with the airline ahead of time before heading to the airport, even though officials expect normal operations to resume on Tuesday.
