MIAMI (CBS4) ― As of 10 a.m. Ida has lost all tropical characteristics and watches and warnings for the Gulf Coast have been dropped.

Ida is now an extratropical storm with maximum winds near 35 mph. Winds will continue to diminish throughout the day and tonight.

At this point, flooding is more of a concern than wind. Ida is expected to produce widespread rain accumulations of 3 to 6 inches along the central and eastern Gulf Coast through Wednesday Evening.

Ida made landfall as a Tropical Storm around 6:40 a.m. Winds were clocked near 45 mph as Ida crossed Dauphin Island, Alabama.

Ida made a second landfall on the mainland coast of Alabama at 8:00 a.m. just to the northwest of the city of Secour.

Ida is expected to continue hooking to the east until it is absorbed by a front on Wednesday.
