UM Baseball Team Heads To College World Series

Hurricanes Playing For 5th National Title

23rd Time UM Has Made It To CWS

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) ― The University of Miami Hurricane baseball team is heading to Omaha Thursday with hopes of clinching a national title at the College World Series.

This will be the 23rd time that the University of Miami has made an appearance at the College World Series, which ranks second to Texas' 32 appearances. It also marks the 11th time in Jim Morris' 15 seasons that the Hurricanes have advanced to Omaha.

UM has won 16 consecutive regionals and super regionals at Mark Light dating to 1990.

The Hurricanes are playing for their fifth national title and will face off against the Georgia Bulldogs in Omaha on Saturday night. Their first game of the series starts at 7:00 p.m.

The top-seeded Hurricanes will be part of a four-team, double-elimination bracket that also includes Florida State and Stanford with the winner advancing to a best-of-three championship series.
