Veggie Burgers On The Menu At Some Broward Schools
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
Students in some Broward public schools are being allowed to "veg out" during lunchtime. Several schools are giving students a new vegetarian option: veggie burgers.
The meatless burgers make their debut Monday at Everglades High in Miramar, where students can sample them during lunch. Kids will be able to buy them later in the week.
This is part of a pilot program.
The Broward school district also is rolling out the burger at Driftwood Middle in Hollywood and Eagle Point Elementary in Weston.
The district is introducing the meat substitute as a way to satisfy kids' requests for more vegetarian fare at lunch.
