200 Absentee Ballots Disqualified In Lee County
FT. MYERS (CBS4) ―
About 200 absentee ballots have been disqualified in Lee County.
County election officials said in some case the ballots did not have a signature, in others the signature did not match the one on file, or they were signed by people with power of attorney, which is not allowed for voting.
Lee County Elections supervisor Sharon Harrington said a voter whose absentee ballot was disqualified will receive a notice. Harrington said there's nothing that can be done for it for this election because once a ballot is dropped in the box, there's no way to get it back and make changes.
The 200 disqualified ballots were among 58,000 ballots that had arrived at the southwest Florida county as of Wednesday. Another 18,000 absentee ballots have come in since then.
