Dolfans Hit The Stores For New Dolphins Duds
Sunday's Game At 1PM On CBS4
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
As playoff fever spreads across South Florida, Dolfans are heading to sports stores with one mission in mind get some new Dolphins duds before the big game.
Dolphin Fan Enrique Temus was one of the first into the Sports Authority store in Pembroke Pines Tuesday. "I'm hoping to see good things this Sunday," he told CBS4 Mobile Journalist Jim Robinson.
And so are the millions of Dolphins fans across South Florida - ever since the team clinched the AFC East title last Sunday by beating the New York Jets. A big win for the fins last Sunday, means a whole lot of green for sports stores. At the Sports Authority, eager fans could barely wait to get their hands on AFC Championship t-shirts and caps.
"I'm getting as many of these AFC East Champion shirts as I can," said Kenson Anestin. "We had a ton of people waiting outside this morning and they all jumped in as soon as the store opened and they've been flying off the shelves ever since."
Anestin is a manager at the Sports Authority and he says he can understand why the AFC and the Dolphins items are so hot right now. "It's been a while, it's been seven seasons, since we have been to the playoffs, everyone is hyped up and excited and we're ready to win."
David Keller said he'll have to watch the playoffs from this living room since his wife gave him a very special present for Christmas a new son.
"I got a newborn, so I gotta be home, I got him a little outfit, already," said Keller.
Anestin said for many Dolfans when they come to his store, it's not always about finding the right size shirt or hat so much as to have it as a collector's item.
At two in the afternoon, the Store had already sold all their Championship merchandise. Many stores expect more stock the Saturday before the big game against the Baltimore Ravens.
