Sharpton: DNC Shouldn't Count Florida's Primary
WEST PALM BEACH (CBS4) ―
The Reverend Al Sharpton is threatening to sue the Democratic National Committee if it counts Florida's primary results from Jan. 29th.
At a news conference in West Palm Beach on Tuesday, Rev. Sharpton expressed some very serious concerns about whether those votes cast would be used to seek delegates at the national convention in August.
He said it is not fair, that there were many Florida voters who said they did not go to the polls because they did not think their votes would count.
"They didn't represent the Democrats in the state, many Democrats are saying that they didn't represent me because I didn't vote, because I was told that they were not going to be seated," explained Rev. Sharpton.
Rev. Sharpton said his organization, the National Action Network, could in fact file a lawsuit to block the DNC from seeding Florida delegates on those results. However, he said he hopes it does not come to that and hopes that Howard Dean will stick to the commitment not to seat those delegates based on early primary.
