Police Distribute Flyers In Westchester Rape
WESTCHESTER,Fla. (CBS4) ―
Fliers were distributed Monday evening in a Westchester neighborhood where a man who attacked a 63 year old woman in broad day light after pushing his way inside her home.
"When she came in to her home the man pushed her inside" said Judy Tapanes, who said she was the best friend of the woman who was attacked.
The victim told Tapanes that the man came out of nowhere as she returned home from breakfast Sunday afternoon . Police say the attack happened at noon this past Sunday in the area of Southwest 84th Avenue and 28th street in Miami Dade County
"Help help help," is how the neighbor describes her friend calling for help once inside her house. Now, neighbors and the men in this community are on alert.
"Nothing happens around here. We do get complacent. We think that nothing happens around here, so it's not going to happen to me," said Moises Tapanes.
But it did happen to a 63 year old woman in broad day light. The victim cried out for help.
But in the end, the victim helped her self with her cane. She struck him enough to scare him off.
Now, the community is taking action placing flyers outside nearby businesses.
"It's scary. Look I get goose bumps. Its scary cause you never know when it can happen to anyone and especially an old lady why would you do that," said Mary Rodriguez the owner of Cafe Coco a business near where the attack took place.
Nanette Maule if the victim's neighbor, had heard details of the attack and was worried for her safety.
"We thought it was a very safe neighborhood, but now I think we have to be on the lookout," she said Monday night.
