Bikini-Clad Women On South Beach Take On Guinness
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ―
Hundreds of bikini-clad women swarmed South Beach on Friday on behalf of Cosmopolitan Magazine which was aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the largest swimsuit photo shoot in history Friday, but they came up a bit short.
The "Cosmo Record-Breaking Bikini Bash" consisted of all the participants shaping their bodies to form the word "Cosmo". Organizers were hoping to get 1,200 women to participate in the event but only about 350 actually took part.
The ladies, all between 18 and 34, arrived at the beach at One Ocean Drive behind Nikki Beach on Friday morning. Those who got there early were given lots of free loot including free bikinis from event sponsor Old Navy.
Participants were also treated to manicures, beauty consultations, mini-massages and more while a DJ played the hottest tunes.
Once everyone arrived, the bikini clad ladies slathered on the sunscreen and hit the sand and were placed in the formation of the word "Cosmo".
Meanwhile, the official Cosmo helicopter flew overhead and took pictures which will appear in the August '08 issue of Cosmo.
