Former Miami Dolphins Super Bowl winning quarterback, and current ESPN analyst, Bob Griese has been suspended for one week for a comment he made about NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya. Griese, who calls a college football game each week, will not be in the broadcast booth this weekend.
Griese was in the middle of calling the Minnesota Gophers versus Ohio State Buckeyes game last Saturday when a graphic was shown on the television laying out the top five drivers in NASCAR's Chase for the Cup. Analyst Chris Spielman asked where Juan Pablo Montoya was.
Griese replied that Montoya was "out having a taco." The broadcasters quickly moved on, and Griese would apologize at the end of the game. He apologized another time later in the day on Saturday.
Montoya hasn't declined to comment on Griese's suspension and said he'd never heard of Griese.
