Police have not said if foul play is suspected after the body of a man was found inside his north Miami-Dade home.
Neighbors told
CBS4 the last time they saw Roberto Melendez, 57, was about two weeks ago when he was out mowing his lawn. They said his wife, Maria, had gone to Nicaragua to pick up their younger son and returned Saturday to their home in 53-hundred block of NW 170th Terrace.
Unable to get inside, Maria went to a neighbor's house where she was told that her husband hadn't been seen in weeks and there seemed to be a strange smell and lot of flies around the house. Melendez and her neighbor agreed to call police. When officers arrived they found the decomposing body of Roberto Melendez inside, the couple's dogs out in the backyard were emaciated.
Police have not speculated as to the cause of the Melendez's death or how long ago he died.
