With feels like temperatures expected to be in the mid 30s to mid 40s by daybreak Tuesday, Broward officials have declared a cold weather emergency for the homeless.

Another South Florida cold front will have temperatures dropping into the low-to-mid-40s Monday night. The big chill has charitable groups trying to get the word out to the homeless to seek shelter.

The Homeless Trust of Miami Dade County has a hotline number that people on the streets can call to obtain shelter. The number is 1-877-994-4357.
The cold snap has also lead Broward County officials to declare a cold weather emergency for Monday night. Homeless persons are advised to go to a shelter. Transportation to these shelters is being provided but individuals must be at the following locations no later than 6:30 p.m. Monday night for transportation to these special cold night shelters:
Pompano Beach
City Hall
100 W. Atlantic Blvd.
(Meet on the Southeast corner)
Fort Lauderdale
Salvation Army
1445 W. Broward Blvd.
Hollywood
Corner of North 21st Ave. & Lincoln St. and/or corner of North 21st Ave. & Sherman St.
(both locations east of railroad tracks)
This cold weather shelter activation is for one night only. The shelters will close Tuesday morning at 7:00 am.
