Mom Hits Deputies With Car Trying To Help Her Son

Woman Allegedly Hit Deputies To Help Her Son Escape

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ― An overprotective mother who went 'above and beyond the call of duty' to protect her son ended up spending the night in jail after she allegedly hit two Broward Sheriff's deputies with her car.

The incident began when BSO deputies tried to pull over 25-year old Joe Morgan in the 4-thousand block of Atlantic Boulevard. Morgan man allegedly took off, calling his mother, Carman Thompson-Wilson, 42, on his cell phone as he eluded deputies.

He didn't get very far.

A few blocks away he got stuck in a traffic jam. When deputies demanded that Morgan get out of the car, he refused. That's when Thompson-Wilson reportedly showed up and hit the deputies with her car.

Both officers were taken to North Broward Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Both the Morgan and Thompson-Wilson were both arrested. Thompson-Wilson has been charged with counts of aggravated battery with a vehicle on a law enforcement officer. She's being held at the Broward County Jail on a $10-thousand bond. Morgan faces charges of trying to flee a law enforcement officer and obstructing with violence. He's being held on $8-thousand bond.
