Personal Information Of 90,000 People Stolen
St. Louis, MO (AP) ―
More than 90,000 people across America have been affected by the theft of laptops carrying personal information about current and former employees of Anheuser-Busch.
Social security numbers, addresses, dates of birth and other information on nearly 87,500 Florida residents, including current and former employees and those involved in employee assistance programs may have been compromised. Residents of New Hampshire, Virginia, Missouri and Texas have also been affected.
Anheuser-Busch said Friday that personal information was missing after several laptops were stolen in June from one of its office buildings in the St. Louis area, where the company headquarters are located.
According to the company, all the data was password-protected and encrypted. A spokesperson has also said there has been no evidence that the data was used in any identity theft crime.
The residents affected will receive a letter with an offer of one year of free credit monitoring service.
