1995 Honda Civic Is Most Stolen Car In America

NEW YORK (CBS4) ― If you own a 1995 Honda Civic, you might want to put an extra alarm system on it because it is the most stolen car in America, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

The news wasn't all bad, the preliminary FBI Uniform Crime Report showed that auto theft is headed for an 8.9% decrease in 2007.

The 2007 list of most stolen vehicles across the country were:
1. 1995 Honda Civic
2. 1991 Honda Accord
3. 1989 Toyota Camry
4. 1997 Ford F-150 Series Pickup
5. 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Pickup
6. 1994 Acura Integra
7. 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup
8. 1994 Nissan Sentra
9. 1988 Toyota Pickup
10. 2007 Toyota Corolla

However, when broken down by state, Florida's most stolen car is the 1994 Honda Accord. It's followed by: the 2000 Honda Civic, 1991 Toyota Camry, 2006 Ford F-150 Series Pickup, 1998 Dodge Caravan, 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup, 2007 Toyota Corolla, 1996 Jeep Cherokee, 2002 Ford Explorer, and the 1993 Chevrolet Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup.

The NICB says car and truck owners should use a "layered approach" to protecting their vehicles. This includes anti-theft devices, locking your car, a car alarm, "kill" switches, fuel cut-offs, smart keys, and even GPS tracking all help to prevent auto theft.
