Carnival Center Revamps Leadership Roles
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Financial problems, unappealing programs and parking issues overshadowed concerts, plays and other performances that were supposed to redefine Miami's cultural life, say leaders of the Performing Arts Center Trust.
''There was a thirst for change,'' said Ricky Arriola, chairman of the trust, which manages the center.
Arriola led the effort to fire CEO Michael Hardy on Monday and force the resignation of Justin Macdonnell, the programming director, on Friday, according to CBS4 news partners The Miami Herald.
The pair were replaced by an interim CEO, Lawrence J. Wilker, a former president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and an executive vice president, Scott Shiller. The pair agreed to lead through April 2008, when a permanent CEO will be named.
