The mother of a missing Florida toddler has been released from jail. Casey Anthony walked out of the Orange County Jail on Friday morning, equipped with an ankle monitoring bracelet and wearing an image of her daughter on a white t-shirt.
Casey Anthony is currently charged with child abuse and making false statements to investigators. She reported her 3-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony missing in mid-July. Authorities say Caylee was missing for more than a month before that. Last week, she was also charged with check fraud and theft.
According to Florida law, police cannot hold Anthony without bail on those charges. Prosecutors requested a high bond in hopes she would not be able to afford it. She was able to post bond with the assistance of two Kissimmee bond agencies. This is the second time Anthony has bonded out of jail.
Anthony was released the first time after a California bondsman paid her bail. She was returned to jail a week later, after sheriff's deputies recommended new charges. At that point, the California bond agency withdrew its money.
Detectives say FBI lab tests and other evidence suggests a decomposing body was once in Anthony's car trunk at some time. Detectives announced they found strands of hair and a suspicious stain in the trunk, which was left at a check-cashing business before it was towed. Authorities believe it was likely Caylee's body, but no charges related to her possible death have been filed against Anthony.
