High School Lab Broken Into & Vandalized

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) ― Hollywood police are investigating a break in at Chaminade-Madonna College Prep.

Hollywood Fire Battalion Chief Mark Steele said a lab at the school, located at 500 Chaminade Drive, was broken into and of a half dozen chemicals were mixed together and poured over the floor. When teachers arrived at the school on Monday, the first day back after Spring Break, they noticed a strong odor coming from the lab and then discovered the break in.

Hollywood firefighters donned hazardous material suits and checked out the lab to see if the chemical combinations posed a health threat. No students were allowed into the lab and the four class rooms surrounding it were moved to the school's library for the day's classes.

Hollywood police said the break in and vandalism were under investigation.
