Crist, Seminoles Work Out Deal Over Casino Games
HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) ―
After months of negotiations, the state has finally worked out a deal with Seminole Tribe of Florida that would allow them to put card games and Las Vegas style slot machines in the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood and half a dozen other casinos across the state.
Governor Charlie Crist announced the compact Wednesday that will funnel at least a $100-million into state coffers annually.
Under terms of the agreement, the Seminole Tribe of Florida will have exclusive rights to operate games like blackjack and baccarat at their casinos statewide. They'll also be allowed to replace their Class II slot machines with the Class III machines which are currently being used at casino operations in Broward's pari-mutuels.
The agreement between the state and the Seminole Tribe of Hollywood would remain in effect for the next 25 years.
