One Dead In Head On Crash Near Land Shark Stadium

MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) ― One person is dead, two others are seriously injured after a head on collision Sunday morning near Land Shark Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Police say the accident occurred in the 22 hundred block of 199th Street when the driver of a gray Nissan Altima crossed four lanes of traffic and slammed into a Nissan Armada SUV. Police closed 199th Street from NW 27th to the Turnpike entrance for several hours after the crash, according to CBS4 news partners The Miami Herald.

The driver of the Nissan Altima had just gotten out of work earlier that morning and was driving a 23-year-old female passenger to work. They collided with the SUV just after 8 a.m.

The female passenger in the Altima died at the scene. The driver of the Altima was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Armada was also hospitalized with several broken bones.
