Couple Extends Deadline For Condo Raffle

Proceeds will help the charity Veterans Retreat

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ― It may sound too good to be true, but a $100 raffle ticket might win you a $350,000 condo in Miami Beach. Tim Suereth and his wife Diane Thorne are raffling off their waterfront condo to help pay the mortgage and give some of the money to wounded veterans.

The couple runs Veterans Retreat and recently announced they would extend the deadline another two months. The winner will now be announced on June 15th.

The charity takes injured vets on fishing trips. Suereth and Thorne plan to buy a retreat in the Florida Keys which would serve as a place for the vets to fish and relax for free.

The one-bedroom condo overlooks Biscayne Bay and Star Island. Thorne told the New York Daily News the condo overlooks Shaq's house and has been remodeled.

But, as with many things in life, there's a catch. A minimum of 5,000 tickets must be sold for the winner to receive the condo. If fewer than 5,000 are sold, the total amount of money will be split between the winner and the charity and the couple will keep the condo.
