The rainy weather is causing quite the inconvenience along roadways in Cooper City. Downed power lines have resulted in the eastbound lanes of Stirling Road between 90th and 100th avenues being shut down.
A tree fell on the power lines around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. Florida Power and Light expects the street closure to last a few hours while its workers repair the lines.
According to FPL spokeswoman Sarah Marmion, there were initially about 1,400 customers without power. As of 9 a.m., about 128 customers were yet to have their power restored, she said.
Drivers are being cautioned to avoid the area.
