Memorial services will be held this week for a Coral Springs teen who died last weekend after his car plunged into a canal.
A wake and visitation for 16-year-old Sean Maxey will be held at the Kraeer Funeral Home, located at 1655 University Drive in Coral Springs, on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Church, located at 1401 Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs.
Maxey was behind the wheel of his red Volkswagen when he got into a fender bender on University Drive around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Detectives said for some reason Maxey put the car in reverse and sped into a sign before he hit a guardrail which caused the car to flip into the canal. Maxey along with 16-year-olds Anthony Almonte and Robert Nugent all died as a result of the crash. A fourth teen who was in the car, 15-year-old Evan Sinisgalli was able to escape and swim to safety. He has since been released from the hospital.
Police say the teens were coming home from a homecoming party when the accident occurred.
Andrea Aguilar was close friends with Almonte. Monday she wore an arm band with photos of all 3 teens, and a picture of Anthony around her neck, to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High were all the teens went to school.
"He's not going to be sitting there today; he was one of our close friends at lunch he's not going to be there I don't know it's like a shock for all of us we were just with him Friday." She went on, "We were going to graduate the class of 2012. He's not going to be there. Life can change in a minute."
Almonte's mother Donna Uzzi is a single mom who needs donations to bury her son. To help call Neighbors 4 Neighbors at 305-597-4404 or

Will Flores, who was good friends with Almonte, contacted CBS4 to say that classmates and friends of Almonte, Maxey and Nugent would be holding a car wash every day this week, beginning at 3 p.m., to help raise money for Almonte's funeral cost. The car wash will be held at the Shadowwood Mobile gas station at 1351 N. University Drive in Coral Springs. "I want to help out with the funeral cost," said Evelyn Rosa after getting her car washed by students. "My little 10 dollars and another hundred is going to help out."
Pasquale's Pizza and Subs at 10337 Royal Palm Blvd. is also raising money for Almonte's funeral. The owner will donate 15% of its sales from Thursday to help pay for the funeral. Carvel Ice Cream, in the same Royal Palm Blvd plaza, will also donate 15% of its' sales on Thursday to assist Almonte's family.
Friends are also selling t-shirts and bracelets to raise money. The t-shirt are going for 10 dollars. They have a
Facebook page with more information.
There's also a
