Boy Pleads "No Contest" To Att. Murder Charges

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) ― A 12-year-old has pleaded "no contest" to attempted first degree murder after stabbing a 13-year-old classmate in September. He appeared in juvenile court on Tuesday.

Both the 12-year-old and 13-year-old had been having argumentsĀ at Ramblewood Middle School the week before the attack, according to Coral Springs police. On Friday, September 19, the fights came to a head and the 12-year-old stabbed the victim on the 10000 block of NW 17th Street in Coral Springs shortly after the two returned from school.

Witnesses say the 12-year-old chased his neighbor down 17th Street, then plunged one of the knives into the victim's upper back.

The 12-year-old also suffered a stab wound during the argument; Coral Springs police say it was self-inflicted.

The 13-year-old boy was airlifted to Broward General Medical Center and underwent surgery to remove the knife.
