Do They Play Cricket In The Rain

Broward Is The Epicenter Of Cricket In The U.S.

LAUDERHILL (CBS4) ― Cricketers from India, Pakistan, the West Indies, and the United States will compete in a three-day international cricket extravaganza at Broward County's brand new $71-million dollar Cricket and Multi-Sport Stadium located in Lauderhill during the Memorial weekend. This is the first-ever state-of-the-art cricket stadium in the U.S.

The Cricket Council U.S.A. is hosting the MAQ T20 International Cricket Tournament at the central Broward regional park, 3700 NW 11th Pl., Lauderhill.

The format will be 20/20 cricket, a short, dynamic version of the popular sport, limiting match length to a few hours.

Cricket is the second largest spectator sports in the world, and is played professionally and at amateur levels on every continent. Cricket, while not well known and popular in the U.S., is often considered as being the roots from which baseball was developed.

Originally a British import, cricket in South Florida, is played mostly by players from the Caribbean and the Asian subcontinent.

Reserved grandstand seating $20 Saturday and Sunday; $10 Saturday and Sunday, $20 after 5 p.m. on Saturday; VIP concert seating $75.
Broward County Transit provides access to Central Broward Regional park via routes No. 18, No. 36, No. 40 and No. 81. Call 954-321-1170 or 877-322-8720.
