Port Of Miami Welcomes The Norwegian Sky
Formerly The Pride Of Aloha
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
A new cruise ship will be calling the Port of Miami home for the 2008 season.
Once called the
Pride of Aloha, Norwegian Cruise Lines has re-fitted the 2,002 passenger cruise ship with Freestyle enhancements and renamed it the
Norwegian Sky.
Monday the ship will make its maiden voyage from Miami; a four day excursion to the Bahamas with full day stops in Grand Bahamas Island, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL's private island in the Bahamas.
On Fridays, the ship will sail a weekend getaway three-day Bahamas itinerary.
"We look forward to welcoming the
Norwegian Sky to the Cruise Capital of the World," said Bill Johnson, Port of Miami Director. "This new addition to our cruise line-up represents approximately 400,000 passengers to our annual count and an estimated $4.4 million in annual revenues. We are extremely proud of this accomplishment and look forward to continued partnership with NCL."
The Port of Miami, which generated an estimated $16 billion in revenue 2006, handles more than 3.7 million cruise passengers annually.
