Kids Back In Class After Early Morning Gas Leak

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ― Students and teachers are back in class at Cypress Elementary in Pompano Beach after being evacuated early Wednesday morning due to a gas leak.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said construction crews working near the school at 851 Southwest 3rd Avenue accidently hit an underground gas line around 8 a.m.

The school and residents in the surrounding area were evacuated as a precaution. A gas company crew quickly capped the leak just before 9 a.m. and the kids were allowed to return to class to begin their day.
