Ft. Lauderdale Went Dark For Mother Earth

MIAMI (CBS4) ―

The international Earth Hour sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund asked residents and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential appliances for one hour Saturday atĀ 8 p.m

In Fort Lauderdale, lights were turned off at downtown office buildings including the landmark 23-story Bank of America Plaza at Las Olas City Centre, 401 E. Las Olas Blvd., and the new 200 Las Olas Circle, 200 SE 1st Ave., at 8 p.m.

The goal of "lights out" was to promote energy conservation and the reduction of carbon emissions.
