NORTH MIAMI (CBS4) ―
If one of your resolutions for the new year was to get in shape, a new exercise program could be just what your looking for to slim down and shape up.
It's called '
Bodyforging' and consists of a fusion of power yoga, pilates and martial arts all rolled into a one hour class. At U.S 1 Fitness in North Miami, Bodyforging creator Kevin Philion said don't expect to hop around in his class.
The class begins with deep, deep stretching, or as Philion calls it "the opening and cleaning of the muscles." Once the body is limber, it's time for power poses which strengthen and tighten specific muscles groups.
"A hard working muscle is a good thing," Philion tells a class, "learn to love the burn."
Another favorite exercise of Philion in the Bodyforging class is the squat which he says not only burns fat, but also tightens all the crucial parts in the buttocks, stomach and thighs. Petunia Flowers says she's lost 38 pounds since taking Bodyforging. Sara Jelke said not only has she lost weight, she's also gained lots of strength in her legs.
"Since body forging started, I lost 12 pounds and the pedicure lady can't massage my calves," said Jelke.
Philion said he designed Bodyforging to maximize fat loss and flexibility in a safe exercise workout for all levels.
