CBS4.Com Has More On Hurricane Preparations
MARATHON (CBS4) ― As hurricane flags flapped next to pink flamingo wind catchers, residents of Marathon in the Florida Keys spent a soggy Monday enduring Tropical Storm Fay's rains.

Early Monday morning, those who had waited until the last minute scrambled to put up shutters while business owners walked around and clean up anything that could catch air.

By mid-morning through mid-day, bands of squally rain and gusty winds swept the island, dropping small pieces of debris on the roads, caused minor flooding in low lying areas and forced those who chose to stay indoors.

"After you've been through a few serious ones, you kind of prepare yourself for something that is not serious like this one," said Marathon resident Matt Wright.

At the Cabana Club, locals filled up sandbags and prepared to watch Fay roll in, for some it was their first ever tropical storm.

For others who were not so brave, they hunkered down in a shelter waiting for the worst to pass.
