FHP Trooper Killed In West Palm Beach Crash

Police Said Alcholol May Have Played A Role In the Accident

WEST PALM BEACH (CBS4) ―

West Palm Beach police are investigating a fatal accident which claimed the life of an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol trooper. They said alcohol may have played a role in the accident.

Police said trooper Elijah Jones Jr., 37, and a female driver were in a Mercedes that missed a turn from Jog Road onto Roebuck Road and then flipped onto its roof Saturday at 3 a.m.

Police said Jones died on the scene and the driver was taken to Saint Mary's Medical Center. She is listed in serious condition.
