Hurricane Conference Kicks Off In Ft. Lauderdale
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
More than two thousand forecasters, emergency managers, first response managers and government personnel are in Ft. Lauderdale for the annual Governor's Hurricane Conference.
The week long conference, held at the Broward County Convention center, will feature a variety of training sessions on everything from storm debris removal to tropical meteorology. Scheduled speakers include Colorado State University storm forecasters William Gray and Phil Klotzbach, National Hurricane Center Bill Read and Governor Charlie Crist.
This year the theme of the conference is "Maintaining the Mission in the Winds of Change."
Hurricane season starts June 1st and runs though the end of November.
