Gas Prices Down For 30th Consecutive Day
Miami-Dade Averaging $2.56/Gallon Unleaded
Broward Averaging $2.50/Gallon Unleaded
ORLANDO (CBS4) ―
Good news for families planning a road trip this month; for the 30th consecutive day the price at the pump is down nationwide.
Although oil analysts seem to be split on the direction of crude oil prices, some project a rise to $75 a barrel later this year while others see $58 per barrel as the next price milestone, the U.S. Dept. of Energy provides little reason to expect gas prices to do anything but continue their downward trend.
"Many analysts are doubtful that investors are willing to speculate now that either the economy or the U.S. Dollar will push the price of crude oil higher," said Gregg Laskoski, managing director of public relations, AAA Auto Club South. "That's likely to leave retail gasoline prices declining incrementally but steadily, as we've seen for the past month."
In the last month, the price for regular unleaded has dropped approximately 22 cents in Florida to an average of $2.49 a gallon; nationwide it's averaging $2.46 a gallon. Last year at this time, a regular unleaded was averaging $4.13 a gallon nationwide.
In Miami Dade drivers are paying a bit more than the state average. Unleaded regular is averaging $2.56 a gallon; down from $2.61 a week ago but a lot lower than the $4.13 it was averaging last year at this time. In Broward drivers are paying about $2.50 for a gallon of regular unleaded compared to about $2.58 a week ago. A year ago, Broward drivers were paying $4.12 for a gallon of unleaded regular.
